Matt performs close-up magic for groups of all sizes. The term "close-up magic" refers to sleight of hand magic using cards, coins, rope and other everyday objects to perform feats of magic just inches away from the spectators. Matt combines his championship sleight of hand skills with comedy and audience participation to create an unforgettable magical experience. Whether the event is limited in size to twenty people or a banquet room of many hun-dreds, Matt's strolling magic skills enable him to work the entire room by traveling from group to group. Matt's ability to entertain while at the same time involve spectators in the magic makes him a favorite among magicians. Matt has utilized these skills in his performances at four different Club Meds in the Dominican Republic, Mexico and Florida. He performed nightly at these resorts for several weeks at a time. Matt performed in English, Spanish and French at the various clubs, dependent on the language of his audience. Matt is also one of the only performers interviewed on Club Med's website . Matt has performed at numerous trade shows, private parties, and all types of corporate events. Magic is a perfect complement to a trade show booth, as it catches the attention of potential buyers while at the same time selling them on a product. Matt is able to incorporate the product into his magic so buyers are repeatedly reminded of its value. Matt was born in December of 1982 and is a member of the Academy of Magical Arts (the Magic Castle) in Hollywood, and the International Brotherhood of Magicians. In 1998, Matt took first place in the annual International Brotherhood of Magicians Junior Close-up competition, one of the largest magic competitions in the world, with magicians from 29 different countries in attendance. That same year, Matt became the first junior to ever be named Magician of the Year for International Brotherhood of Magicians Ring 313. In 1999, he took first place at the Pacific Coast Association of Magicians Junior Close-up competition. He has been featured in the Los Angeles Times and several times in the Orange County Register, in recognition of his unique magic skills. Matt studied Interpersonal Communication and Spanish at UCLA and graduated Summa Cum Laude and with college honors in 2005. Matt received an MBA from the Drucker and Ito School of Management at Claremont Graduate University, and is now pursuing a Ph.D. in Psychology at CGU. The power in Matt's magic lies in the fact that it is not the typical magic performed by most magicians. Matt performs original and sophisticated magic, with a touch of comedy, unlike anything the audience has ever witnessed. Matt's performance will help make your special event an occasion to be remembered.
